Method
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Drain and rinse the black beans thoroughly.
- Mix the beans with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Spread half of the tortilla chips over a large baking sheet.
- Add half of the seasoned beans, corn, tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, and olives.
- Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
- Add the remaining tortilla chips and repeat the toppings.
- Finish with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is completely melted and bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about one minute.
- Add salsa, guacamole, sour cream, fresh cilantro, and additional jalapeños.
- Finish with fresh lime juice and serve immediately.
Notes
For the crispiest results, use sturdy tortilla chips and avoid adding salsa or other wet ingredients before baking. Building two layers distributes the toppings evenly, while adding fresh toppings after baking preserves the contrast between crispy chips, melted cheese, creamy toppings, and fresh vegetables.
