Introduction
One of the best cooks I’ve ever known was my mother. We typically discovered handmade dumplings in her stews when mom prepared them. You could definitely taste what the food was because we never ate anything from a package or a microwave. I exclusively use an electric burner to cook these days; I don’t use any other technological appliances.
A dumpling is a little dough ball that can be baked, steamed, fried, or boiled. There are a ton of different types of dumplings available, ranging from cheesy Polish dumplings to Chinese dumplings packed with pork and cabbage.
Chicken and dumplings is a traditional comfort food that is made with these boiled drop dumplings, which are popular in the United States, with chicken and broth.
To make them, drop spoonfuls of dough into a pot of simmering stew or soup. It’s hard to resist this luscious stew since the starch in the dumplings thickens the soup.
